How Auto Tariffs Will Affect You in Spokane WA
Here's the latest on the new auto tariffs and their impact on vehicle prices:
Tariff Overview
- Effective April 3rd, a 25% tariff will apply to all new vehicles imported into the U.S.
- Vehicles already in the country before April 2nd will NOT be affected.
- Future imported vehicles will see a 25% price increase—for example, a $30,000 vehicle could increase by $7,500 or more.
- We sell new vehicles produced in Mexico and Canada, all of which will be impacted.
Impact on U.S.-Built Vehicles
- About 78% of our new Fords are built in the U.S.
- However, many key components (powertrains, electronics, transmissions, tires, and safety systems) are imported and will also be subject to the 25% tariff.
- Price increases on these vehicles are projected to range from $2,500 to $7,000, depending on the percentage of foreign parts used.
What This Means for Customers
- Imported vehicles in stock before April 2nd and U.S.-built vehicles in stock before May 1st will not be subject to these tariffs.
- Once tariffed vehicles arrive, pricing will increase significantly—major news outlets are already advising buyers to purchase before the increase.
- Manufacturers may introduce some incentives, but they won’t fully offset the price hikes.
