It’s finally here! Ford said it would come and it did. Ford customers can now charge their electric vehicles at Tesla Supercharger stations. Ford is the first non-Tesla automaker to get access to the stations. More access to reliable fast charging is imperative to customers and provides confidence when buying an EV.
Charge with Tesla Superchargers
The initiative between Ford and Tesla more than doubles the access to DC fast charging with 15,000+ available Tesla Superchargers.
In order to use the Superchargers, Ford EV owners will require an adapter to connect. As a thank you to its electric vehicle owners, Ford is making the Fast Charging Adapter available at no cost to new and existing customers enrolled in the BlueOval Charge Network through June 30, 2024.
How to Get Your Free Adaptor
1. Go to the Reserve your Fast Charging Adapter website.
2. Click on the Reserve your Fast Charging Adapter button.
3. Log into your FordPass account.
4. Make sure the information is correct.
5. Click Reserve.
6. That’s it!
FordPass Will Locate a Tesla Supercharger
In your FordPass app, click the View Chargers. FordPass will display a list of chargers. The Superchargers will be labeled as ‘Adapter Needed’.
How to Use Your Fast Charging Adapter
1. Attach the adapter to the Tesla Supercharger cord. Push until you hear a click.
2. Plug the adapter into the charge port until it clicks. With Plug & Charge, the session starts automatically.
3. Stop charging by pressing the unlock button on the charge port.
4. Remove the adapter from the charge port using the silver vehicle release button.
5. Detach the adapter from the charge cord by pressing down the cable release tab.
