Ford put it into high gear when it introduced its all-electric SUV, the Ford Mustang Mach-E, in 2021.  The Mach-E embodies the Mustang spirit, inside and out.  “This ain’t no one trick pony.”  Ford.com

When was the Ford Mustang Mach-E Introduced

“At the first-ever Detroit auto show, Henry Ford said he was working on something that would strike like forked lightning,” said Bill Ford, executive chairman, Ford Motor Company. “That was the Model T. Today, the Ford Motor Company is proud to unveil a car that strikes like forked lightning all over again. The all-new, all-electric Mustang Mach-E. It’s fast. It’s fun. It’s freedom. For a new generation of Mustang owners.”

The best-selling coupe in the world, taking everyone by storm in 1964, had not expanded its family until the introduction of the Mustang Mach-E in 2020, with its 2021 model.  It joined the Mustang lineup of the sports coupe, convertible and special editions.  By introducing the electric vehicle, Ford has recognized the increasing demand for electric alternatives.

  • E-latch is an intelligent, electronically controlled door latch system.  There is a button located on each door that releases the door latch.  When the system detects your key fob or Phone As A Key, you can push the button on the door to unlatch it and it will pop open slightly.
  • Now that there’s no engine, there’s tons more cargo room.  You gotta love the extra storage space in front where the engine would typically be.  It’s called a frunk.  You can use it for your stuff or use it as a cooler.  It’s washable and includes a drain to get rid of the water after the ice melts.  How cool is that??  Pun intended.

Electric Vehicle FAQs

Does speed affect EV range?  High speeds and heavy-footed acceleration will have a negative effect on the range of an EV.  Moderate acceleration helps you get more from every charge.

Does temperature affect EV range?  Yes, outside temperatures will have an impact.  A trick is to “precondition” the vehicle while plugged in.  It uses the electricity from your home to regulate cabin and battery temperature before you leave.  You can easily preprogram your preconditioning times, based on your schedule.

How long do EV batteries last?  Ford EV batteries are covered for eight years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first, guaranteed to retain a minimum of 70% of their original capacity.
