A person holding a phone

There is so much you can do with the FordPass App.  You can start and stop your car, lock and unlock it, and find it when you can’t see it.  If you have an all-electric vehicle, you can check the charge level.  The app is designed to help you, giving you features and information that is useful every day.  The convenience is habit forming…in a good way.  But what if you come to rely on the app and it doesn’t work?

FordPass App is Not Working

One of the many features that are great to use on the app is to start your vehicle.  It’s 20 degrees outside and you want to warm up your car before braving the cold.  Yet when you try to start it, nothing happens.  Why??   You’ve used it plenty of times. There are a few reasons that can cause this to happen.

Reboot Reboot Reboot

Same as with a computer, if something is not working, the first course of action is to reboot-turn it off and turn it back on.  Same goes for the FordPass app.  Turn off your phone and turn it back on.

Need Updated Version on Device

It could be that your cell phone needs an update.  You can check your device against the software requirements needed for FordPass.  If that is the case, update your phone.

Need Updated FordPass Version on Device

Another potential problem could be that you do not have the latest FordPass version.  Check for the version you have and update if available.

Reinstall FordPass App

If you still can’t get connected, remove the app completely and reinstall it.  Then you will need to re-add your vehicle.

Test Your Car Battery

If your car battery is running low, it could be that there is not enough power for communication to happen between your app and the vehicle.  If you like, we offer a free battery test in our Wendle Ford Service Center.  Schedule your battery checkup online.  While you’re at it, schedule other services like an oil change.  We can get it all done for you.

No Service

FordPass relies on connectivity.  If you do not have Wi-Fi or cell phone service, you will not be able to use FordPass.

A Helpful Tip from Wendle Ford

Did you know that leaving your key fob in your car or near it can drain its battery quicker?  If the key fob is close, it can continue to communicate with the car, lending to the draining of the battery.  Even though the continual signal between the key fob and the car is small, it can slowly drain the car’s battery too.

We hope that we have supplied some direction in the event that your FordPass app will not work.  If you have any questions or issues, please feel free to contact us online or call and speak with our professional staff.
