The Ranger pickup is equipped with a 2.3L EcoBoost engine. It produces 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission is standard as is rear-wheel drive. 4WD is available.
How Much Can my Ford Ranger Tow?
Towing is a given in owning a truck and the Ranger will not disappoint. When properly equipped with the available trailer tow package, the truck has a towing capacity of 7,500 pounds. It provides a maximum payload capacity of about 1,860 pounds. Without the tow package, you can pull about 3,500 pounds. Be sure to not exceed this weight when towing with the bumper only.
Off-Roading in the Ford Ranger
While your Ranger is perfect to commute to work or take the kids to school, it’s also geared up to be a mean trail machine. So what is the ground clearance of the Ford Ranger? Your rear-wheel drive truck has a ground clearance of 8.4 inches, with the 4WD option getting a clearance of 8.9 inches.

The available Tremor off-road package includes a modified heavy suspension for increased ground clearance, FOX shocks, skid plate, tow hooks and six upfitter switches. The Tremor package requires the SuperCrew 4×4 model, optional on the XLT and Lariat trims.

Level 1 Package: FOX off-road suspension leveling kit, eye-catching premium aluminum wheels and “Ford Performance” graphics for extra style.
Level 2 Package: Everything included in Level 1 plus Ranger performance calibration, blue tow hooks and a RIGID off-road fog light kit, BFGoodrich K02 all-terrain truck tires with a rugged tread pattern.
Level 3 Package: Everything included in Level 1 and Level 2 plus a chase rack, red tow hooks, Ford performance heavy-duty front bumper and a Ford performance sport exhaust system.
